Samish Island is located close to beautiful Chuckanut Drive-halfway between the exciting cities of Seattle and Vancouver. Great food and fun adventures await in the quaint coastal towns of Edison, Fairhaven, Laconner and Anacortes.

Connected to the mainland by a system of dikes built in the early 20th century the island is easily accessible by car, so no ferry lines!

Samish Island is only three and a half miles long and one mile across at the widest point. Surrounded by Chuckanut, Samish, and Padilla Bays, offering some of the best oysters, clams and crab in the Northwest.

Long ago, Indian longhouses and rugged mill towns dotted the shores. Now amongst the deep forests, rocky cliffs and sandy beaches you will find an eclectic mix of simple cabins and sprawling estates.

A favorite stop for bird watchers, Samish Island is home to large numbers of Bald Eagles and Blue Heron, while loons and other waterfowl shelter in the bays. Otters and seals and even an occasional whale can be spotted from the shore.

There are two churches, two summer camps, and a community hall. The park in the middle of the island features a playground, tennis and pickleball courts. Two public beaches provide great beachcombing or kayaking. The quiet island roads are perfect for long walks and bicycle rides. Don’t forget to wave to everyone!
